De Lambrekvrienden wins the 67th Brabantsedag

The 67th Brabantsedag once again attracted tens of thousands of visitors to Heeze on Sunday. Under this year's theme, "Pulling Out All the Stops", sixteen float-building groups and more than 2,000 performers brought forgotten stories from the history of the Duchy of Brabant to life. De Lambrekvrienden impressed the jury most with their production "The 1920 Antwerp Summer Olympic Games" and were crowned the Overall Winner of Brabantsedag 2026. They also received the HWV Audience Award.

De Lambrekvrienden crowned Overall Winner

The professional jury awarded the highest honour to De Lambrekvrienden. According to the jury, their production "The 1920 Antwerp Summer Olympic Games" delivered an outstanding total performance in which design, acting, music and costumes perfectly complemented one another.

Bloed, Zweet & Tranen finished in second place with "Phillywood", while Vriendenkring Hopeloos claimed third place with "La Radio del Signor Frits."

As in previous years, the jury also presented the Pearl Awards to groups that excelled in specific judging categories.

  • Best Theatrical Performance: Vriendenkring De Rooie Hoek – "The Bergen op Zoom Gunpowder Disaster of 1831"

In addition, several young performers received Honourable Mentions for their outstanding acting, appearance or originality.

Pulling Out All the Stops

This year's theme, "Pulling Out All the Stops," challenged the sixteen float-building groups to portray forgotten stories from the history of the Duchy of Brabant—stories that had never before been depicted during the previous 66 editions of the Brabantsedag.

Historical events, remarkable people, traditions and lesser-known stories formed the inspiration for sixteen complete theatre productions combining spectacular float design, live theatre, music and performance.

The result of months of teamwork

"What we witnessed today perfectly reflects what the Brabantsedag stands for," said chairman Luc van der Veen. "Thousands of people have worked together for months to create sixteen extraordinary productions. The craftsmanship, creativity and dedication were visible everywhere. Every float builder, performer, volunteer and everyone working behind the scenes should be immensely proud of what they have achieved."
