Brabantsedag crosses the border: Horse from VK Schenkels in May to Maker Faire Berlin

HEEZE - Vriendenkring Schenkels will contribute to the Maker Faire in Berlin in May, with their moving horse from the 2018 theatre parade.

The towering steel horse received praise from the public and the jury as an eye-catcher in 'De eerste Boerenleenbank. Money has to roll ...'. A month later the horse was also shown riding during Maker Faire Eindhoven at Strijp-S. This is how VK Schenkels came into contact with the German version of the festival of making. It was founded in 2006 by Make magazine: and is now a festival network that celebrates innovation, creativity and curiosity, with dozens of festivals, large and small, all over the world.

The Schenkels-horse is currently being adapted for transport, in order to be able to shine in the German capital on 17-19 May. Car builder Jos Bosmans and his Schenkels colleagues Marini Schenkels and Eric van de Kruijs went to the festival location in mid-April to inspect it: "A large park in the east of Berlin. The horse will be at the front of the building at the entrance; a great place to present our horse and to promote the Brabantsedag".

This is done with the horse and a leaflet in German and English from the Brabantsedag and Schenkels Foundation together. The action could generate German interest in the biggest theatre parade of the year. And for Schenkels? "We are sure that we were not asked for the last time. Maker Faire can be found all over the world ...", according to the proud circle of friends.
