Saturday 26 August
14.00 - 17.00 hours
While dads, moms, grandparents, uncles and aunts are putting the finishing touches to the rolling floats, the children are enjoying themselves in the municipal garden.
Of course, they can climb poles, bake bread, do carpentry, make-up and crafts. Also the surprise stall, the lemonade fountain, ice creams and steam engines are here for an afternoon full of fun!
In Heeze, Brabantsedag ambassador Bjorn van der Doelen needs no introduction. A character with a smile never far away. A storyteller par excellence. No poetic nonsense, but true words. "About how he had to climb that monkey ladder like a man... About how she finally takes him back in her arms, without a word, like only a woman can." Sometimes a bit uncomfortable, but above all, brutally honest.
With a wink, he calls himself the Pearl of Brabant. Completely deserved! He's good for a treasure trove of beautiful, spot-on, sensitive songs. It's beautiful when you're there, goodbye for now!
Do I see it right? Is that an Antonov An-2? Yes indeed, even though the front, propeller, and wings are missing, you can simply step on board for a real boat and submarine trip. Of course, you will actually take to the air, promised. There's room for 25 adventurers. Spectators are taken along and witness the co-pilot unleashing a bag of tricks from the outside to make the show extra spectacular.
At BOOT (visual theater creators Vincent de Rooij, Daan Mathot), it's all about hilarious scenes, unexpected twists, spectacular set changes, and absurd optical illusions. Nothing is what it seems.
Luc (singer, accordionist, composer, and lyricist) walks around the course with his covered wagon. Wherever you come across him, you can enjoy his beautiful songs, all wonderfully performed. Songs by Jacque Brel, Louis Neefs, Toon Hermans, Bots, The Dubliners, Don McLean, Leonard Cohen, and so many more. A beautiful mix of Dutch and English-language repertoire with a touch of French. But it doesn't stop there. Passers-by become theater companions, resulting in beautiful and/or playful scenes.
Vaessen knows better than anyone what the most important element of street theater is: yes indeed, interaction with the audience. Well, he and the Brabantsedag have that covered.
Who says fun and educational don't go hand in hand? The crazy professors in their lab coats from Mad Science have everything it takes to drive children (and adults) crazy about science and technology. Can you beat your friends in shooting a vortex cannon? Or build your own electric circuit and experiment with dry ice? There will definitely be amazed and proud faces all around. Every child will be thoroughly entertained.
Mad about science? Yes, among the visitors of Brabantsedag are the discoverers and scientists of the future. Eureka!
The theme of this Brabantsedag, 'Eureka!', calls for a show that introduces you to the highlights of science. Be amazed by the forces of nature and experience explosive experiments. You don't want to miss this!
Mad Science is active worldwide and brings the love for science to millions of people aged 5 to 99 in a unique and practical way! Today is a sneak peek, more to come tomorrow.
A reception, wedding, birthday, cocktail party, or - like today - the Brabantsedag festival street theater: Eric Bogers, Wiljan van Gerven, and Werend Berkers are happy to be part of it. With the double bass, guitar, and accordion, the trio creates a nostalgic, cheerful atmosphere. The music invites the audience to sing along, but you can also simply enjoy a good chat.
Their repertoire includes well-known sing-alongs in Dutch, English, and a little bit in French. Harmonizing, so feel free to sing along with all your might.
No guts, no glory, no legend, no story. That's the motto of the 'Soap Stunters'. They are the stars of the past and the heroes of the present. They perform a stunt that has never been shown live before, but also could never have been performed live under these circumstances. Until today! Without a doubt, today they will achieve hero status and make history. You want to be there!
In front of the entire Brabantsedag audience: "Tada, esteemed audience, you are witnessing a heroic act. Applause for the unparalleled Soap Stunters."
