Marianne Vos ambassador of Brabantsedag Heeze

HEEZE - As part of the refined design of 'the biggest theatre parade of the year', the Brabantsedag has been supported by a growing group of ambassadors since this edition. From now on, a new, and the first female, ambassador will be added.

This year a start was made with the formation of a club of ambassadors: BN'ers and BB'ers who are fans of Brabantedag Heeze. The first names were announced last month: musicians Björn van der Doelen and Gerard van Maasakkers, author Wim Daniëls, commissioner of the King Wim van de Donk and mayor of Heeze-Leende Paul Verhoeven. From now on, the Brabantsedag will be able to add the name of the double Olympic champion and the double world champion Marianne Vos.

Marianne Vos is well known as a track cyclist, road cyclist and field cyclist. She was elected three times as Sportswoman of the Year and after her Olympic title in 2008 she was awarded Knight in the Order of Orange-Nassau. As an ambassador for Team Brabant Sport, a representative from the sports world is a great addition to the current group of Brabantsedag ambassadors. Marianne: "As a proud habitant of Brabant it is of course nice to be involved in the Brabantsedag. Just like the Brabantsedag, sport is an important link in Brabant society and I think it should be promoted too".

Within the theme for the 61st theatre parade of Brabantsedag, one of the subjects is the residence of Marianne, Babyloniënbroek. The group Bouwerij Skôn is going to bring the history of Babyloniënbroek to life as the sixth car in the rolling theatre parade. "Now that Babyloniënbroek is being depicted in the parade, I think this is an extra fine affair to become an ambassador," Marianne says. "What they make in Heeze, there are no words to describe that.
